why do people get into a r/s?

why do ppl do so much to get into r/s only to be hurt times and times again? wat's the purpose of a relationship anyway?

everyone loves companionship, someone to share memories with... and also not forgetting it's a sexual thing too...
should the r/s fail, just keep the fond memories... forget the bad ones...

just to share, i got together with a very special girl a year after breaking up with my gal. she was a close friend of 7yrs and we clicked really well but just short of that romantic feeling whenever we were together. things didnt work out and we split after a couple mths. i was devastated by that 2nd breakup and i felt really alone. but i realised, without going thru this r/s i'd never have experienced so many things with this special friend of 7yrs. we promised to be friends and we're still very much in contact sharing our problems.
i guess we're young once... once bitten, twice then learn to be tougher when third time comes ard -
