RX47 installed

RX47 center speaker was installed today.
Definitely improves the sound stage.. The improvement is not as obvious as when I installed the FX3...
Overall a recommended upgrade.
It is a difficult install so those not comfortable with DIYing, the advise is let the pros do it for you.

OK - This is what I'm planning:
Front L+R - FX3 x 2
Centre - RX47 x 1
Rear L+R - RX47 x 2
Issue 1: who wants to share the RX47's?
Issue 2: Now I don't know what to do with my 6x9 Infinity Kappa 693.5i...

One suggestion is that it might not be necessary to use RX47s on the rear parcel shelf as depth constraints are not a problem. The FX4s are a good alternatives at only about 60% of the price.

That shop also got FX4.
We were considering it for the centre, but cannot fit. -
The shop has FX4s. The price he quoted last was about 130.
The FX4s are for the rear. NOT the center as it will not fit. The owner already tried and failed.
I feel it is no point paying a premium for the shallow depth of the RX47 in the rear when it is not an issue.

Hi, interested in the centre dash speaker for my 95. May I know where can I get it? Also, I am interested in sharing if anyone is keen. What size is the RX47? Is it also 3.5" like the FX3?

Hi Dave: the RX47 is a 4" coaxial speaker. Its low profile allows it to fit into the centre dash cavity, with some minor modifications.
I'm interested in getting it too. Sharing with t-r-s, so we'll just have to look out for another owner to share with you. -

Well, t-r-s and I went down to install speakers today. Eric couldn't confirm that the speakers had arrived until 4+ in the afternoon, we quickly rushed down and the installation was finished by about 6pm.
I got the FX3s and RX47 done while t-r-s got the FX3s. No more RX47s in stock, Eric has to order another pair but he said it should only take a day or so. They didn't seem to have any trouble installing the speakers though, probably because they got to practise on the rest of you guys first, ha ha
Much better clarity and soundstaging now. I have to adjust my treble downwards a bit. Pity the tone controls on our cars are so crude, not even an equalizer. -
GreyMatter, let me know when you are free to go to Eric's place for the RX47 installation, say mid-week or so. If weekday not convenient, weekend is fine too :-)

Definitely Eric has the FX4s.. He was trying to fit them in the center for me before I fitted the RX47...

Hi, would the FX3 fit the centre dash? I would think so, since they have the same depth 41mm as the RX47? Any comments?

Note that FX3 is 3.5" while the FX4 and RX47 is 4". The depth of the 3.5" is definitely less than the 4". Just check that your dash takes the 3.5" speaker.

Installed the RX47 today, better soundstaging and balances up the FX3s very well. Now we need to do something about the rear speakers !

When we next meet you can have a look at my setup to see whether you like it. I think it sounds pretty good now.
I changed my fronts ( I think this is the first thing you should do). Go to the place I had negotiated with for 9-3s to get a fair deal.
I tapped my rear output and have an amp to run a pair of 6x9s and a 10" bass tube. The rear channel gives a full range signal so you can tune as you like.
