Fans Upset After Eric Moo Sings Christian Songs At Concert

STOMPer Ms Ng says she wants a refund after Malaysian-born singer Eric Moo preached and sang several Christian songs during his recent concert at Suntec City. Other concert attendees also complained about the matter on facebook.
The STOMPer elaborates:
"I went to Suntec City for Eric Moo's concert yesterday. I bought 5 tickets altogether.
"There were another 2 female singers featured in the concert. When they finished singing (the first section), then it was Eric's turn.
"After singing his first song, he started propagating Christianity. He also started singing Christian songs, not only 1 song, but many songs...
"Before I left (I did not finish watching the concert), he sang 2 of his own songs, and sang at least 4 Christian songs!! I strongly feel that I was being cheated by the organiser and Eric!
"You can see the comments of other audience members. We would like to get back our money."

I notice usually a celebrity suddenly do this kind of thing, is after going thru some crisis, and then convert to a religion to find comfort.
In this case, what's his story? kenna cancer?

I don't recall artists being restricted to any kind of music or song's to perform. If the programme did no list any titles, one would assume that it is up to the discretion of the artist. Hell, there may even be an acapella or a barber shop quartet ! lol
I think people got peeved when he started to propogate Christianity rather than just singing songs. Many famous celebrities sang a hymm or two in thier tours and you don't hear people raging about it.

But you went to HIS concert to hear HIM sing and you got what you paid for, right? I mean there is no stipulation that he can only sing secular songs, is there? Don't get me wrong. I did not go to the concert and neither am I his fan, but I do know about the circumstances of his conversion and how his life has changed dramatically. The singer has a life too and he wishes to sing about it. If you are his fan then try to share in his life too and exercise some tolerance and forbearance. Or do we want to do things the usual way and complain and get big govt to intervene and enforce that all public concerts be secular and no mention of God or anything remotely religious? -

Eric Moo is not known for his xtian songs, if you all are from that era, just like you dont go to Lady Gaga concert and instead of Poker Face, you listen to Justin Bieber songs 80% of the time
and you are supporting people to listen to xtian songs just because you are one

FlyerVision Entertainment, the organiser of a concert which featured Eric Moo, announced on its Facebook page yesterday afternoon that it would refund fans who were upset by the Malaysian-born singer's evangelistic actions during the show.
Some fans who turned up to catch Moo at the This Is My World concert held on Sunday at Suntec Convention Centre were upset and felt cheated when he performed gospel songs instead of the xinyao hits he is best known for. The concert also featured Malaysian singer Meeia Foo and Beijing-born Janice Yan, winner of the Star Legend edition (2010) of the TV talent show One-Million Star.
Facebook user Lim Hwee Ling posted the following comment, which has garnered 14 "likes", on FlyerVision's page: "There was no mention in the synopsis of the concert that Eric Moo's concert is going to be a preaching, declaring his conversion to Christianity and singing of gospel songs concert! I am not against any religion. But if it involves religion, then why are tickets sold to public?"
More than 30 other fans registered their displeasure with the show on the Facebook page.
In a statement released by Moo, he said: "In recent years, in addition to constantly performing in pop concerts, I have also been taking part in gospel and preaching sessions, and I have never mixed the two."
He added that he does not know why the sermonising part of the show was not conveyed by organisers to the public.
In response, FlyerVision's Facebook post noted: "We had no intention to hide from the public the fact that he was planning to release his gospel album for sale. This is disclosed in the Mandarin version of our marketing write-up.
"What we did not anticipate or agree with Eric Moo was for him to turn certain segments of his concert into a gospel-worship concert, through actions such as kneeling, worshipping, and asking fellow Christians to worship with him."
