  Anyone watching this series? First time watching a china-based drama series. Story is very beautifully written and stringed together. The songs in the drama is damn nice~!

  in this whole show, i admire 8, 13 and 14 prince for their eloquence, foresight, intelligence and their kind heart. i however, pity and sympathise with 8 ye. I can feel and understand his bitterness, his dejectedness and how much he is resigned to his situation...

  if 8 or 14 had won the seat of power..they would have condoned greater corruption of other princes esp those close to them (9th prince etc).......hence, corruption would be more rife and Qing dynasty would have shortened their reign due to an empty treasury....

  Yong Zheng's greatest contribution lies in his great and swift capability to eliminate corruption and cutting back all expenses to fill back the treasury....

  When I first watched this show. I thought Ruo Xi was there to change the history. This show reminded me of my trip to the Forbidden City. I'd always thought the emperor's room must be as big as what was being shown on TV drama, I was disappointed when I saw the real one. It was very small, according to the tour guide, he said it was because of fengshui. According to fengshui, the qi will flow out if the room is too big. So what we saw on TV drama are all exaggerated. The emperor's bed was long and narrow, it is because it symbolises （长寿) "long and thin".

  looks cosy but little space contraint.,,,,thought it shd be big for an empress....perhaps too spacious she would be too frightened to sleep at night....

  Yes, there is a glass panel. Tourists are not allowed to enter the room, can only see through the glass panel.

  Ha ha...... she'd done many bad deeds. According to the the tour guide, one of the dish she liked was bean sprout stuffed with minced pork. The servants had a hard time stuffing the minced pork inside the bean sprout. I just can't imagine how they did it, the bean sprout are so thin, how to stuff in the mince pork?

  I hardly travel twice to the same country but I've been to China many times because it has many scenic places.

  Just ask a funny question. If there's a time machine, which era do you wish to go? If I'm not wrong, there's a famous scientist (can't remember the name) predicted there will be time machine in future.

  time machine is not really possible, as Stephen Hawking once said....if not we would have been visited by future people oredi...got it? if there is such a wonderful machine....i would really wanna go back and visit all the great people of china ....to see how buddha look like, jesus....etc...all mysteries revealed liao....

  Scarlet Heart was written with a time fantasy as well as yearning for aristocratic love affairs in the midst of gender discrimination of an era... but too much obsession over such romances would establish unrealistic expectations on relationships and partners...not very good la particularly more so with korean romances...total obsession...dun u think sg gals are now behaving like Singakoreans?

  New word "Singakoreans!" No, I don't think so. Sg gals and guys usually do not dwell on past relationships so much. If the relationship does not work out, they will just go on to the next relationship. This is very unlike the Korean romances.

  I'd finished watching Scarlet Heart but still cannot understand why Ruo Xi left the eighth prince for the 4th prince. Is it because she knew 4th prince would eventually become the emperor and the 8th prince would die. Then, that's not a good reason.

  well...never say never...there had been news of suicide pact due to extreme obsession with such romances... i really didnt follow through...but based on my speculation, a woman deeply in love would want to know if her man is willing to sacrifice for her....and for men, what holds them dear is the need for a successful career, power, fame and wealth....we have been taught instinctively that without these, we become worthless for any woman to love as well as the necessity of being successful in society and not be termed as a failure....but that doesn't mean men do not yearn for great love …of course we do….. the historical perception has never been changed since time immemorial from cavemen hunting to possess and provide for cavewomen till our modern age… I believe 4th prince was able to provide what she really needed at the crucial moment when she yearned for love that 8th prince was not able to give up his fight for power… In fact she never quite forgot his feelings for 8th prince…. How much does a woman know about men’s problems?

  There's going to be BBJX sequel. I heard that the whole plot will be in the modern era, centred on the romance between the 14th prince and ruoxi. Nicky Wu (4th prince) and Kevin Ma (8th prince) may not be part of the cast for BBJX 2.
