Ris Low to star in her first movie

Controversial former Miss Singapore World and wannabe fashionista Ris Low is set to star in an upcoming action film titled "The Magnum".
Famous for her catch phrases ‘Boomz', ‘Shingz' and 'Preenz', as well as for being convicted of credit card fraud and having bipolar disorder, Ris is hoping that her participation in the movie will change her current negative public image.
"I want people to see me as a more serious type of person, and not what people portray me," she said in an interview with Yahoo! Singapore.
She did not reveal exactly what her role would be, but she added: "This movie, the character is a lot like me, and I want people to see this side of me. It is a chance for me to show that I can be serious, and not the crazy girl that the media has shown me."
Ris has also made an about-turn with regards to her claims that she would join Miss Singapore World again, saying: "I would have joined Miss World a few months back, but since a few projects have come my way, my objectives have changed. So I don't think I'll be joining any more pageants."
When asked about the decision to cast Ris in the role, director CJ Harvaraj, who claims to have helmed some short films, said: "It's a business decision, not an artistic decision. We didn't want to get higher profile actresses and pay more."
But he also quickly added: "We think that there is a buzz around Ris. If she is acting in a movie, people will go and watch it instead of other actresses."
"We're going to train her, not just on the dialogue. She can speak good English. She'll also be involved in fighting action scenes," he said.
When asked to give a brief plot outline of the film, Harvaraj declined to elaborate, only saying that "the movie is an action film that will be given a Hollywood blockbuster treatment."
"The Magnum" is being backed by a certain Jayam Ni Pte Ltd, which was just formed this year, and is expected to cost between S$500,000 to S$1 million. The film will be shot entirely in Singapore and the cast will be made up of Ris as well as part time American actors. Filming was set to begin in late February.
