Rumours of Gong Li's divorce rife

Hong Kong media reported that Chinese actress Gong Li is divorced from her Singaporean businessman husband, Oei Hoe Seong.
A report from Lianhe Wanbao quoted Taiwan's Apple Daily which reported the divorce after the press conference to promote Gong's latest movie Shanghai, in Singapore ended on Thursday. It also said that a close friend of the couple had confirmed their separation. It quoted the anonymous friend: "They (Gong Li and her husband) have been separated more than together all these years, and have been going through divorce proceedings one year ago. The divorce is amicable and they still remain friends."
However, Hong Kong's Apple Daily reported that the couple were still married as of Thursday. It cited proof of the validity of their marriage after an online check on Singapore's Registry of Marriages. The Hong Kong tabloid speculated that the couple could be on the verge of separation instead.
These reports have led Lianhe Wanbao to speculate if Gong Li's comments that she stays in hotels whenever she is in Singapore to be indicative of her separation from her husband.
Checks with Gong Li's manager, Zeng Jun Zhao, yielded little confirmation. He evaded reporters' probes and said: "I have no idea about what goes on in my artistes' personal lives. I don't know what her marriage is like."
The reports also mentioned that Gong Li is currently staying in her own home in Shandong. However, she is still fond of Singapore and its people. -
