SHANGHAI - Jet Li, 47, settled in Singapore for the education system, he said in an interview with an entertainment website.
At the Shanghai International Film Festival for the world premiere of his film Ocean Heaven on Monday, he told reporters that he took up Singapore citizenship so that his two daughters can get a Chinese-English education here.
He said he lived in China and US for many years, and also looked at Australia and Switzerland, but settled in Singapore primarily because it is a place "they can learn" and he can work "without worrying about them".
The superstar took up Singapore citizenship last year. He and his wife Nina Li Chi bought a bungalow in Bukit Timah in June last year for $19.8 million.
He is not the only well-known personality to move to Singapore for his children, American investor Jim Rogers also said he moved to Singapore as he wanted his children to learn Chinese.

At least Jim Roger send their children to SG Local school.....
Why Singapore passport? Tax rates, Crime rate, bureaucracy, statutory, ease of travel, personal safety. Especially you have 2 young girls.
Many Why's that not so convenient to talk to the press lah.
Still remember when i was 17 waiting for NS and working at GV yishun. Jet Li was the guest of honor for the opening ceremony...All the staff took photo with him but till today i have never never saw that photo. He was hahaha....very short i think more then half a head short then me but he is very very friendly.
Since our gahmen so pro FT, will they be so generous to give Jet Li's kid entry to some top school?
