Sing Chew: I wasn't engaged

The Malaysian singer dispels rumours of breaking her engagement, and gushes about the new man in her life.
The first thing Malaysian powerhouse Sing Chew wanted to let us know was she was never engaged to her ex-boyfriend, as reported in the media last year.
"This kind of thing hurts a girl's reputation. My 'market' might be spoilt now!
"We had a normal breakup," she told xinmsn in the exclusive chat.
The female runner-up of Project SuperStar's first season is currently promoting her new compilation album Zhen Xin Shi Yi Truly. In it, she penned some of the lyrics, discussing her philosophy on love.
"Lyrics are a portrayal of emotions. Falling out of love is painful but you have to bravely face it, like applying salt on wounds, because without pain, you can't heal and let go.
"Many guys will give promises, but these promises might fail. Girls should not be blindly devoted, because that's a trap. Girls shouldn't be unhappy in making your partners happy," she opined.
The 29-year-old sure knows what it's like to lose one's love and has since emerged stronger than before.
"Many times, letting go comes after thinking things through. I don't dwell on the past, so as to stay open to new things."
And someone new has come along.
Sing revealed that after a year without love, there is now "someone" - a Caucasian man outside showbiz. She gushed that being with him feels like schooling days, innocent and simple.
Well, it seems that this fledgling romance has infected the singer's music too.
Zhen Xin Shi Yi Truly is marked by Sing's departure from her usual robust vocals to a softer, less-known side. Even her trademark dance tunes have an interesting twist to them.
"Fast songs can also be gently done!" she chirped.
Does she think age is catching up on her? Is she desperate to start a family?
"I really look forward to marriage. I'm the kind who's worried if I'll be left on the shelf!"
