I
was having a discussion with a bunch of friends the other day...a lot
of them are put off by marriage due to the unfairness of woman charter
itself in singapore in the event of a divorce..should it be abolish to
encourage marriages in singapore...will more people really get married if woman charter dun exists??
haben get married thinking abt divorce oredi.
is tt the way?
the prob is not with the charter but with the men's mindset.
let's face it la....divorce so rampart nowadays...and with the one sided woman charter....guys are just trying to protect themselves......i seriously think without woman charter....there would be definitely a huge jump in marriage....
and a proportionate jump in divorces too bcos it's too easy and there's nothing to lose.
rite?
mai siao lah.
will a couple who love each other think of divorce even before getting married?
only someone who has not met the right one will use divorce as an excuse.
btw, i dont support the women's charter. its outdated.
if u are truly in love with one another then be together la....since one party no longer want to be together...why force the other to be with you using the law....why must u resort to taking things from the other party in the event of a divorce....

it cant be helped if the authorities dont want to change the law.
of course women will support their own causes...and to their own social advantage.....
women charter is one of the main causes in the avoidance of men's commitment which its great liabilities are so foreseeable with the already known spoiled and ultra materialistic attitudes of most sg women well protected by the system...
the alternative is for women to equally voice out for men's interests and take a proactive stance to advocate balanced interests....news and campaigns over emphasizing women are too common and only make men irksome over an unfair system...
the root cause falls back on ....women themselves....
an ideal system for women cannot be established at the expense of men....overemphasis of such system would only disintegrate the other half's confidence towards marriage...
our system is still backward in this perspective and not sustainable in the long run....
foreign influx is the net result
sg men are overly condoning sg women in the old shadowy perception that they are all weak and victimized...which is a paradox of men's own victimization by empathizing all of them...
a fair term to use would be Family Charter...or Equal Gender Charter
no divorces without marriages
Hmm.....are you sure your friends really think of Women's Charter...? It is a little strange and odd.....
How come they would think and focus on that.
Are your friends all lawyers....?
It's strange....
Anyways......I dont think Women's Charter affects marriages........no.....the reason is high property prices, mature service economy (long working hours, women work / double income), and high cost of living......
What is the point about Women's Charter that makes your friends worried anyways ? Divorce would make them lose half of assets ?
Hmm....Im not sure about the divorce laws, but wouldnt the asset be split only on the assets accumulated after the marriage ?
In any case, that is a very strange consideration....I would think it would probably be a concern for those who marry "mail order brides" or other lopsided relationship, but it shouldnt be a concern for the real long-term conventional equal relationship.
