How much dowry to give?

One of my best friend getting married next year and he asking how much to give dowry if he is holding and not holding banquet?
any suggestion?

I remember just few months ago my friend was telling me the girl's parents wanted a whole pig or something like that. lol!

dowry is what bride (or bride family) gives to groom in marriage. i think you are asking about bride price. =D

Ceremony or not also must give, can range from a few thousand dollars to many many thousand dollars. Market average is above 4000 bucks, I have personally come across 8000 dollars or more. Yes, some parents are that traditional. Usually guys forget to budget dowry into their wedding expenses because people always think simi simi era one, but the truth is it still exists.

Got a few friends like that liaw... shotgun wedding. Normally can tell, u calculate the date they marry and the date of birth will know liaw. hehe

But I tell you man.. got a few guys they told me that the girl told them is safe. So I suspect sabo man.... that is just low man. N the girl say's she miscalculated. Feel the fear or not!
