I tried out Spa Esprit Downtown lately and the massage itself was really good.
the negatives:
Sales bitches were just that - bitches... well, very pushy lah..
After my session, I was just resting and sipping on my ginger tea when one of them proceeded to try to sell me a spa package. This was my first session there and he wanted me to fork out 2.5k for a package???!!! I of course graciously declined. I mean, even if I could afford it and even if I go for spa sessions regularly, I would probably want to try different places as well right? So anyways, I said "let me think about it" and I don't really want to go into the details now, so lets just say that he was VERY pushy. Finally when he realized that I wasn't going to bite, he turned a black face and went off to his counter.
After this, I went over to pay and realized that I had a free voucher from a friend in my wallet! So I asked politely if I could use it then. The woman behind the counter (another biatch) then snapped back at me very defensively saying "NO, NO.." like I was trying to pull a fast one on her or somethin. She then went about pointing out the stipulations behind why I couldn't use the voucher then...
After that session, I went down there again cause I wanted to use my free session voucher? I called and asked them if they had availability for a session (I hadn't specified what service at that point in time) and she said "sure, can u make it at 2?"... I then asked her if I could use my voucher and then she was coming up with all sorts of excuses like time slots all taken up and all (the scrub and massage takes 90 mins as compared to just massage at just 60 mins). I felt that she was kinda dodgy but didn't say anything then. I called back half an hour later and pretended to be someone else, booked a slot (yes, they had a 90 min slot available now) and just went down for my session, revealing my voucher only at the point of sale! I mean, the voucher was a gift from a friend who had paid for it in advance. I don't see why they should morally prefer a fresh client. Although I do see the economics of it. But I felt really taken advantaged of.
All in all, even though the massage itself was good, I wouldn't go back there to pay their prices. I paid something like 140 for a 90 min massage?
I HAVE heard from friends that the Holland V branch is cheaper and friendlier though.
If I'm feeling rich and need a spa session though, I'll opt for St Gregory's the next time... afterall, that's where I go for my gym and swim sessions.

Be careful of Modern Beauty.
Good product, good service, and nice ambience. But super hard sell. Heard from some people who got such experience with them. I asked them why cannot keep saying no to them. They said that if you say no, they will get more people to talk to you and even call the manager in.
On the whole, if you are rich, you can try that. But if you have a budget constraint, step away from their shop.
