Erm...there is no need for a silk one I guess. I was thinking of buying one for my GF on valentines because the lecture hall is always so cold. Anything that will keep her warm would be good.

there are some shawls with buttons sewn on. can button together both ends of the shawl so tat it doesnt slip off...maybe u can consider tat.

Chinatown. Just get out from Chinatown MRT, down the row of shophouses there's a shawl wholesaler.
But i think you are thinking of a SCARF. most cotton shawls cannot really keep that warm ba?! -

You want a shawl to keep warm, go for pashmina or cashmere, or wool, which is cheaper.
Department stores like Takashimaya and Isetan stocks these. The higher percentage of pashmina/cashmere, the warmer and pricier it is. Also note higher percentage of pashmina/cashmere means the fabric gets "fuzzier" more easily, may cause problems when using.
Another good source for shawls is Holland Village Shopping Center second floor. You can browse around those ethnic looking boutiques. One shop there called Rustic Living has wide range and reasonable prices. They've got an outlet at Centerpoint too. -
if u want really cheap 1 is at lucky plaza lor.. $10 for 5! but quality not gd la.. but just for pattern.. haha
