i remember watching an "alternative" version of it performed here by my uni theater company which came to singapore
the stage was bare except for 3 lots of scaffoldings with 2 levels and 2 ropes from the top..
the actors were very acrobatic or damned agile.. going up and down the scaffoldings and ropes, while acting out the whole play without missing a line..
most amazing was the guy playing Puck.. his entrance was him sliding down slowly headfirst from the rope without his hands and the rope wound round his leg which was controlling his descent...
