do poems have to rhyme?

songs are just another kind of poem right? i feel that songs that dont rhyme are much nicer.

not really, but at least it has to mean something, that's why u have the idiom no rhyme or reason.

IMHO, songs fall into their own category since they are written to fit music or tune; and poems, not usually although poems have musical devices such as rhyme, beats and rhythms.
Poems don't have to rhyme. Most contemporary poems don't rhyme.
