hey, i saw before sunset but didn't see before sunrise. i like that idea! i think it's really cool. but if i were the poet-busker, i'd feel so stressed!Originally posted by expiringpoet:Has anyone watched 'Before Sunrise' (movie)? It stars Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy.
In it, 2 lovers were walking down a river in Vienna and a poet-busker asked if they'd like a personal poem composed for them on any subject they pose to him.
He told the couple that if they like his poem and are happy with it, they can pay him any amount they wish.
I wish there's something like that in Singapore. It's fun!
BTW, this movie is excellent. Watch it if :
i) You are a die-hard romantic AND
ii) You are a realist
iii) You love scenes of Europe
iv) You love the idea of endless intelligent conversations with the love of your life
Cheers!
I know what you're saying, but these people really live and breathe on art I suppose? They make the world more beautifulOriginally posted by prayingbudda:hey, i saw before sunset but didn't see before sunrise. i like that idea! i think it's really cool. but if i were the poet-busker, i'd feel so stressed!
Can't be full time poet-busker here, mate. You're totally rite about that.Originally posted by SingaporeMacross:to be a busker in singapore is to work like a dog.
to be a poet in singapore is to starve.
to be a busker-poet, is to be a starving dog.
Ok, what's your paypal acct no.???Originally posted by S-wordsman:I'll busk you a poem anytime,
In any clime,
With beat and rhyme,
For quart or dime,
If you wish.
Like golden drops of solar sheen,
And platinum locks of lady lean,
If pleases you, pay compliment,
If not, then with littlest detriment,
Your thoughts unleash.
You could enjoy your own singing if no one else cares to listenOriginally posted by S-wordsman:In honesty, I've always wanted to take my guitar and busk the streets.
Just afraid nobody would stop to listen.
i have been too conditioned by practicality. it never really occured to me that there are people who actually live and breathe on art. yes, they make the world more beautiful, more colourful!Originally posted by expiringpoet:I know what you're saying, but these people really live and breathe on art I suppose? Did you like the movie? I watched the sequel first, then I liked it so much that I rented the prequel...heheh...
Interesting point. If all you do is stand at the street corner and recite, wouldn't you require a licence more similar to that needed for "Speaker's Corner" rather than a busker's?Originally posted by The man who was death:i dunno if u can get a street performing licence composing poems
I think as long as you're just reciting, you dont need any license. cos it's not commercial.Originally posted by Bluesky_Liz:Interesting point. Yup, the ending was pretty ambiguous huh. I hope there'll be a continuation. Would love to know if the actually do decide to stay together...Originally posted by prayingbudda:i have been too conditioned by practicality. it never really occured to me that there are people who actually live and breathe on art. yes, they make the world more beautiful, more colourful!
i found the movie okay...didn't like it thaaaat much because throughout the entire show, i was waiting for a climax but that climax never came! i do see the purpose of that i guess...just wasn't expecting it.
it'd be fab if they do!Originally posted by expiringpoet:Yup, the ending was pretty ambiguous huh. I hope there'll be a continuation. Would love to know if the actually do decide to stay together...
