Yes, I read your blog and saw the Maya Angelou poem, that's what urged me to post this one and ask for different opinions.
You know what's even stranger, I'd actually sat for a poetry clinic by a Jamaican-born poet (whose name I've completely forgotten-go ahead shoot me!) 10 years ago and wrote a love poem for my wife (then girlfriend) during one of her sessions.
It was supposed to be a praise poem, so I knew no one else to praise but my girlfriend. In the poem, I had imagined her as my wife. Here it is:
My wife, SitiMy wife Siti, she's so pretty,
Prettier than she, is nobody.
Soft is her voice, for lying down to sleep,
No need for sleeping pills, no need for counting sheep.
My wife Siti, graceful is her walk
Flowing, breezing, swinging, when her body talks,
Inspiring is she, inspired so is me
Prettier than pretty, is my wife Siti.
Nobody, is prettier than she.
My wife Siti, smiles a smile so shy;
A nightly blossom bashful, to the bright blue sky.
And when that sweet shy smile blooms brightly just for me,
Prettier than she, is nobody.

As you can see I like to rhyme.
