The poem is probably read by a computer -- probably an Apple computer readback function. I'm most impressed by the idea that a computer read program can read a poem, flat and emotionless as computers might be, that didn't seem too bad...
It made me wonder what computer readback function would sound like reading other forms of poem; for example: can it read free form with the same effectiveness?
This might be a thought of a rather lazy person (eg myself), but if you can have a program that reads the poem you write back to you, it can be a useful tool. At this point, it might be wishful thinking, considering a computer will not be able to perfectly understand where to stress a word (like at the end of a line in some poems) nor will it know how to adjust its tone or speed to the way a line or strophe in a poem is meant to be read. -
Even if we can program the computer to do all those youÂ’ve mentioned it still lacks the human touch. The same poem read by me would sound very different when read by dsnake1. We canÂ’t help but bring in our past experiences when reciting the poem and to a certain degree that will influence the tone and flow of the poem.
This uniqueness is something that a computer programme will never be able to imitate.

Poetry readings in singapore seems rare, either that or it's not known publicly.
I only ever been to one, it was organised by SubTEXT, held at the national library.
I 'd recommend looking at QLRS news bulletin or sign up to its newsletter for any announcement for such events, but the website seems down at the moment.
Might be a good idea to regularly look at towards the national library for such things.

I've been approached before for poetry readings that were organized by the National Library (usually the Orchard branch) but truth be said, it's few and far in between.
Unless you guys wanna bandy together, book a space and venue, and recite away? I'm game for that. -
sounds fun PB! hey, a friend of mine is opening a wine bar/restaurant soon. One of the things he's considering are poetry nites and such. PB, would you be interested to read your poetry there? Or anyone else here? We could publicize the event in sgForums and start a poetry movement or something
I'm also seperately helping some friends organize an art exhibition end of this year. Hoping i can get a good poet to recite something at the opening launch. You guys can recommend someone who's willing to do this for free? -

As for the art exhibition, you could look for more established poets like Madeleine Lee or Cyril Wong. -
