eh? relationship desire and hate? not desire and love?Originally posted by ShrodingersCat:Hmm one of the easiest poems to remember ba so simple and so apt.
Nothing to do with my current mood though, but perhaps something I identify with about relationships.
Long long time ago, like a few years back before google, what you said might be true... nowadays there is no need to struggle a lot. There are excellent websites where people discuss poetry.Originally posted by blue_blue_bedsheet:I like it when things rhyme. Have not been exposed much to poetry, but like to express myself with alternate lines that rhyme at the end. Does it comform to any poetry styles? As for reading and understanding some of the works of poets, i would have to struggle a whole lot before i actually 'get it'.
Well, really a price to pay for not being well schooled. Yet to settle down to read
how to learn new words when i keep forgetting old onesOriginally posted by DeadPoet:
But you get to learn new words!
You can start with Gilbert Koh at his blog.Originally posted by casino_king:Unfortunately if and when I do, I read only "dead poets."
I guess you are right maybe contemporary poets esp local ones might be more accessible.
I will give it a try and see if they are any good and see if their references are less obscure.
Any reccomendations?
Why don't you teach him?Originally posted by tare:hippo u no need to learn new words!
It is entirely up to you.Originally posted by MooKu:Some poems that people today compose look just like prose broken up into lines.
yeah it's like what I mentioned... some people compose poetry, or rather "poetry" that looks like it was done simply by writing something with a little flowery language and then breaking it up in random (or ok, to be nice, appropriate) places. And I think if we were to call these poetry it would really dilute the art.Originally posted by duke_argonath:strange, i think almost all my friends have dabbled in poetry at least once or twice in their lives.. doesn't mean they were any good.. but they did.. haha

Although the boundary between poetry and prose remind obscure but there is still hope; as Joan Houlihan in her reply to Fred Moramarco saidOriginally posted by MooKu:yeah it's like what I mentioned... some people compose poetry, or rather "poetry" that looks like it was done simply by writing something with a little flowery language and then breaking it up in random (or ok, to be nice, appropriate) places. Check out womango by Grace Chia.Originally posted by MooKu:or maybe they were just not well-written.
edit: or maybe poetry was or has evolved into a form of abstract art? like how somebody can put an egg on a piece of paper and call it art.
