Results Day
He sits in his chair
Waiting
In utter trepidation
Waiting for the time to come.
The clock is on the wall
Ticking.
Ticking.
With every second that passes
It seems to get louder.
And louder.
He feels a tickle
Ticklish.
Should he answer the call of nature
Once again
For the umpteenth time?
Five o'clock
Oh, no.
The time has come
For the reckoning.
And a reckoning there shall be.
Sweat pouring down his face
Shivering.
Trembling.
Hardly daring to gaze his eyes
Upon what lies before him.
Oh, my.

NUS Monkeys
i see monkeys
who leave the door ajar
and their tails
tempt the rest
to pull on them.
I see these monkeys
and they fail
to close the door
and now my modules
are flying out of the floor -

A Flu is me
A flu is me! A flu is me!
Sore throat, runny nose
Viruses shouting in glee!
A nose polyp or two
nausea and a headache
the symptoms of flu.
Oh how painfully I wish,
yesterday's rain didn't drench me
Soaking wet from head to toe, like a fish. -

The Succubus
Black was the color of her long straight hair
Red was the glow of her eyes
Lust was what controlled her instincts
As the Succubus prowled the dark streets in the night
She wished for neither gold nor fame
But for the man who slept in the small house
Quietly she moved
Yet heavily she breathed
In the dim light of the full moon
Her slim and slender shape was revealed
In the semi-darkness she crawled up the walls
As the man in the room stirred
She reached the side of his bed
And the man moved a little
His eyes still closed
His mouth open
Undressing the sleeping man
The succubus breathed in his scent
Ah how handsome he was
She thought
Lust overcoming caution she reached down
And as she straddled the man he seemed to groan
Her hand caressed his muscled body
But the man only snored
As the dawn broke the man stirred once more
And she leaned forward to kiss him
The succubus turned to leave
And gave the sleeping man one final glance -

silence
i can hear you
loud and clear
but you don't know
when thunder crashes
a million times today
words too loud
wanting no answer
so i stay silent
when lightning burns
spotlighting, highlighting imaginary flaws
a look of fury
too far for an answer
so i stay silent
when it ices over
to trap and drown and freeze
cold anger within walls
ignoring the answer
words tear at my throat
but i stay silent
and the rain is soft and
unoticed -

Never going home again
I've finally got here, IÂ’ve come so far
to arrive at a mid-station, a new place
IÂ’ve never been before, and now I leave
With homesick feelings of fine fairer days.
To see the road stretched far and away,
winding where it goes, it is never straight,
I wonder where itÂ’ll lead, where itÂ’ll stray;
the urge to turn tail and run back is great.
But I am never going home again,
thereÂ’s no ticket for going back in time.
Past cravings are for ghosts left back home,
I'll bear the pain of leaving old things behind.
Let the past slip into a thought preserved
in a frozen mind frame where it deserves. -

In the Shadow
I cry
My heart bled
You look at me unflinchingly
In the Shadow
I reflect
I regret
I choose
In the Shadow
I dare
I stepped out
Out of your shadow
In the light
I smile a true one
I only smile for other
In your eye, I smile without caring
In the light
Finally I know where there is light
There will be shadows
But with courage, I face the shadows with a ever true smile -

To a bright young spark
There is no doubt
that your ideas are wonderful
and if executed, will make
the world ideal. However,
the world is not ideal
and thus, will not submit
to ideas that require ideal
morals and ideally,
selfless individuals
who will execute them.
"Why not? Why not?" You demanded
I explain, why cannot. You waved
your hands about, frantic like the wings
of a dragonfly. You paced, and skipped
here and back, like a water strider
searching for a mate.
I cannot agree with your ideas, so you forced
a bookmark into a closed book,
and laughed. -

Missing
There's no one who knows what i'm feeling right now,
A bit of despair and abit of happiness.
All i did the whole day was just to frown,
To those who came and pissed me, i swear and curse.
I need someone to love me
But she is just far away
All i need her is to be
someone to brighten up my day
There's no denying she's all i ever got,
the gear in my life which made me move on.
The times i spent with her were very very short,
compared to the years i yearned whenever she was gone.
Where are you dear, as i am writing this?
Your warm and tight hug i sorely missed.
Meet me right now and share a fragile kiss.
For you have showed me the wonders of this union bliss.
When dragons start flying and fish start walking,
when deserts start snowing and ice caps start melting.
When hate starts to set and people start mocking,
Those will be the days when our love starts ending.
The end of my life,
just depends on one small thing.
The sharpness of this knife,
into my eyes i will swing -

Growing sideways
What is this extra bit that I can pinch
and what is this hump under the chin?
I used to be thin, and relatives used to ask me
to eat more, and so I did, eat and drink,
as clock hands slowly but surely turn. Suddenly,
one is borderline overweight: the machinery
has finally reached its half-life. Maybe
itÂ’s not as efficient as it was in burning
the fuel fed to it; the scum accumulates
a layer around the waist or by gravity,
pools in the butt and thighs.
“You’ve certainly put on.” said those same relatives
who used to comment and poke on my bony ribs.
I replied that I am now growing sideways
and helped myself to more curry as I refused
another helping of rice. Similarly-shaped
relatives nodded and only smiled. -

Valentine
Because I have learned from you the art of maiming,
I hang my fruit, sectioned and unwhole, in a bowl
of shadows scalped from the deep of unyielding night.
Because I have learned from you the art of leaving,
I prance and strut, stage left and right, sidestepping
the bark of the director's cut. Always, an invisible longing
Because I have learned from you the art of loving,
By association I have learned to maim and leave
a pale moon ring, an onion, a scent that clings to a knife
(like yours)
Because I have learned from you to learn my lessons well,
I carve my lessons in abstract. I write to you a valentine. -

I have begun
I have begun to wear your habits like a second skin.
The stars and nightwind are sworn witnesses
to this shadow spectacle: invariably
I gnash my teeth in throes of sleep.
Shredding myself awake, with great familiarity.
I catch myself: (I caught you when
your petulant mouth refuses rest, when
your searching hands turn clammy in my wake.)
Beyond the span of dissolved silence,
do you catch yourself muttering a exaltation
that used to be mine, replicate twin-like
gestures like Gemini in flux?
I've learnt to bury this transference,
my dirty pretty secret. Like an
emollient unguent your essence worms gangrenous
into liverspotted skin; A half-worn lyric,
a half-healed thorn: you're all of them.
I'm afraid (say it!) that you'll never be gone. -

Coffee Musings
..So he looked at his coffee, growing cold in the freezing room.The coffee did not give off much steam, so he tried to gulp it down.He felt it burn his throat a little, and the birds outside were still creating a ruckus.
He gazed at her and he simply admired her presence there and then.Life was too short to play with semantics, yet he hated and steadfastly refused to deal in obvious.She sipped her half-hot, half-steamed coffee and simply went on with life.
The sunset came and went quite rapidly.The greyness covered the slits between the curtains.He leaned in his chair, and sighed a little sigh that sounded like the agony of 7 weeks.

Scab
Fingers and nails, feeling the sides
of a scab in idle pleasure --
something about the hardness
roughness that is your own and yet
not your own; that edge
that your fingernail digs into,
the skin peeping from under is smooth
and thin, ripples like a plastic sheet
as you test its tenacity.
Your fingers explore. The scab
threatens to tear the new skin
along with it if you insist.
But no, you think. You think
if you do it slowly, you could just
pull the dry ugly pad off. The wound
bleeds again. A new scab will form
and this time, it will leave a scar. -

Insomnia
Too tired to study
Too awake to sleep
Here I am writing words
Which make sense
Not to you but only to me
I've had enough of ribosomes
And transfer functions
And eigenvectors
But my mind doesn't seem to have enough
Of this state known as wakefulness
Hazy my mind is
Drugged with a shot of caffeine
And a surge of adrenaline
Which comes from preparing
For a 10am test in the morning.
How I wish I could be
In one state or the other
Wide awake or fast asleep
Mutually exclusive
And not in a mess of both. -

Portside
The northern winds, once proud, once vengeful,
have collapsed on themselves,
shouldering a wrath keener then the sirens.
It is their incumbent, their one sole heir,
soaring towards a horizon, receding
beneath the wings of the scarlet ibis,
like hope -- faint tendrils, formless, yet substantial.
On a painted boat glazed wet with intent,
a lone traveller gazes beyond certainty,
into the wild expanse of water and salt.
Living, breathing , consuming air as if he were fire,
wavering in a coat of black, blue and crimson
without direction, for long they have ceased
to whittle edges off stubborn whetstones,
to lumber a finite crux to a point beyond flux.
As the sails fold and billow, imperfect dreams rise and ebb. -

The Crying Tree
Dumbly, you spread your arms, a silent "why"
as if to question your wavering franchise,
slake the futility of wild protuberant lust.
I carve a careful girdle upon your virgin hips
like a lover coaxing ecstasy, with beaded intent:
fear changes the consistency of your fount.
Your tears, hot and moist like bleached burnt sugar
trickle tersly into thieving palms, waiting;
infinite patience, in the veins of commerce
I slat the boughs of your disavowed health,
laughing as strangled screams drip from your
descendent heirs, the ones that turn their faith
away from trials of fire you turn your head
as I suck your last tear, and turn away. -

Stupid stuff --- poetry ---
thereÂ’s no reason to read
them, no reason for rhyming
phrases or jagged stanzas, blocks
of metaphors
creating sentimentalistÂ’s crap.
Idle scribbles from an idle hand – why
should groups of men hunker together
arguing over
an arrangement of words?
They all say the same
thing no matter how you
put it,
donÂ’t they?
IÂ’ll use my camera phone if I wanted
to capture a moment
in a moment. Forget
words – they have too much
meaning,
too many meanings.
