Wrote this while on duty....something thats been on my mind for quite awhile...see what you make of it...
As the days while away
So too my service to the nation
Perpetually feeling take for granted
Chronically overworked, severely underpaid
Why this resentment?
Isn't it supposed to be patriotism?
Don't we owe Her our all?
Because of Her, we stand tall?
Just what do we lack?
Belonging or pride?
Or do we even want to stand for Her,
Up against the tide? -
i have mixed feelings for ns too

but errr.... is there some grammer mistake in the 1st stanza? wat's "while away"? "so too my service"??
line 3 should be "feeling takeN for granted"?
the poem is thot invoking but seems abit short and err.... unfinished? -

very appropriate, national day just around the corner.
we wave our flags now, but when the tide comes, how many of us will stand up for Her?
i wrote some poems about my ns, but the themes were not so thought-provoking. read my piece about a sentry? -
