Please read – important changes in future competitions.

Dear poets,
I have great news for you.
There will be some changes in the coming 4th Dead Poets Society (Singapore) Poetry Writing Competition that will be held in Sep/Oct 2005.
Firstly, submissions are strictly by pm only. Please do not post your submissions in the forum. After the deadline, I will post all submissions in a thread without the name of the authors.
Their names will only be revealed after the results are out.
Secondly, there will be two categories in the competition.
In the Open Category, members of the public, i.e. you, will get to vote for your favourite poems. The poem with the most votes will be the winner of this category.
In the JudgesÂ’ Choice Category, members from the judging panel will select a winning poem. It is highly possible that the same poem is selected for both categories.
There will be 2 – 4 local/overseas poets in the judging panel. These judges will take turn to select the winning poem for the second category. I am glad to inform you that Mr Alvin Pang has kindly agree to be the judge for the 4th DPS (S) Poetry Writing Competition.
I will continue to invite poets/writers to sit in the judging panel.

In view of this, there will be one/two winner(s) per competition. Just want to clarify that if your poem is not selected in the JudgesÂ’ Choice Category, it doesnÂ’t mean your poem is not good enough. The judges have the right to select, in their opinions, the best poem among the submissions.
May the best poem win!
P.S. It is highly possible that IÂ’ve made all these up since Alvin is not free to post here. For those who have doubts, do register for the coming poetry-writing workshop in 13th August 2005. He will be please to clear your doubts.

Gilbert Koh has agrees to part of the judging panel!!! He will be the judge of the 5th Dead Poets Society (Singapore) Poetry Writing Competition next year March/April 2006.
So now we have two judges for the JudgesÂ’ Choice category!!!
All I need is another 1-2 more judges. HmmÂ… who shall I approach next? Catherine Lim? Ong Sor Fern?
(Actually IÂ’ve already approached a ST journalist but Â…
I understand, really, there are too few of us who are interested in poetry. Beside I am not a poet and DPS (S) is just a posting forum. So I donÂ’t blame her.)

I am also thinking of approaching Mr Morris Allen. He was my Literature teacher back in CTSS. -

still the same question.. Can I submit a chinese poems? Let's say if I can't type it here, is it possible to paste in paint prog and load up the pic?

I know it is a bit too early as we are still in the mist of the 3rd round. Although the 4th round will be held a few months away, i.e. Sep/Oct 2005, I think it will be a good idea to come up with a theme first.
With Alvin Pang and Gilbert Koh agreeing to help out as judges, I have a few ideas in-stored for our future poetry writing competitions such as working with youth groups or magazines/newsletters, etc.
So my friends, do you have any suggestions for the next theme?
What about
Childhood
Fairy Tales
Singapore topics
Family/Friends
Nature
What else? -
I like the Singapore and Childhood themes... how about childhood in Singapore?? kekeke.....
