Why do you post your poems in the Internet?

One of my cousins told me yesterday that although he writes poems but he doesnÂ’t see any reasons to post them in the Internet. To him his poems are very personal and it is only for the eyes of his intended audience. Beside he doesnÂ’t really care about other peopleÂ’s comments on his writings.
I respect his views and explained to him that the main purpose of posting my poems in the Internet is not to show off or whatever. I post them in the Internet because I want to share my feelings via my poems with the rest of the world.
I donÂ’t see any problems in expressing my feelings in front of the whole world. There is really nothing to hide. But to each his own and I respect those who donÂ’t.
One very good example will be Emily Dickinson. She kept her poems private (more than a thousand I think) and they were only published after her death. -
To share it with those who's interested... Also a place to keep them. I tends to lost them when I write them down in books and pieces of papers...

The same reason why I post in sgforums...to share thoughts.
Not just poems but any post at all. To be able to get a response and be able to response to someone sharing a thought. -
Well, it helps when there are others who might be able to know what you feel.And you feel that slightly more comforted.Though nothing beats a good chat on the fone with your best pal from time to time.

writing it down in a book and keeping it somewhere is not a good idea for me... that's how i lost my old book of poems and stories... i remember I wrote a crappy fantasy story once in that book... now can't remember what i wrote.
And posting on the internet, i guess is a form of expression, venting of feelings / frustration sometimes.... it's like how some people feel like shouting out loud at the sea or into nowhere....
thats why i post... kekeke -
it's fun to express our thots and exchange ideas.....
plus i'm too lazy to write.... typing is easier
