Thought I might share with you guys this poem I found on the bbc website
The Tsunami - Lekhak on http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/getwriting/A3453013
Where can you go to find the tears?
my eyes are now so dry
there is just no reason
for all of them to die.
A tiny heave of earth did cause
such a massive tidal wave
It is sobering to think of ourselves
and the humanity that we must save.
Nature reminds us once in a while
that our vanity is such a farce
All our nuclear power pales
compared to the bursting stars
In a span of a few short minutes
so many the waves wiped out
and the same can happen to any of us
before we can shiver or shout.
Yesterday on the Television
a man recounted his woeful tale
of how he narrowly escaped his death
when he grabbed on to a wooden rail
"By God's grace I made it"
He said in a sincere tone
The rows of kids in the background
were stiff and dead and gone.
Myopic man clings on to threads
of hope and callous whim
when people around him fall like flies
He thanks God for sparing him
If God was an old man
high up in the sky
and if he felt the pain like us
why would these people die?
The more I see such senseless deaths
The more I am convinced
That no Idiot's guide to God is true
and the clergy should be lynched.
They ask you to believe in things
that you must take for granted
and ask no questions nor seek no answers
if its the joys of heaven you wanted.
Weep today oh man
for we are un-evolved!
Our intelligence gives us questions
that can not be resolved.
We make simple assumptions
and fill in the empty blanks
with whatever the misleading crap
the useless clergy rants.
It is way more important
to be compassionate and kind
than to keep on following a faith
for the leader himself is blind.
