Hello pple,
New to this forum. Reading, reading, suddenly feel like writting something so here it is.
Today
The sunlight streamed through curtained panes,
the shrill alarm drives me insane.
Eyes still closed, I reached over
grabbed the clock and brought it closer
Another day, another morning.
will be be better, or just as boring
Stifling a yawn I stared at the ceiling
and tried to gather what I am feeling
I rub my eyes, with thumb and fingers
tried to banish the sleep that lingers.
stumbling across the cold hard floor
I walked and stumbled to the bathroom's door
turned on the tap, the ice cold water
flows down my face and through my fingers
looking up into the mirror
saw me staring back and started to whisper
"who are we today, who will we be?
which face to put on,for the world to see?
**Please dun suddenly laugh out too loud or puke as may frighten your parents/siblings/grandparents/inmates from the asylum. I will not be responsible for any injuries caused. -

Nice one you've got here making use of couplet in your poem.
I like the ending. Whether we like it or not we have to wear our social mask to face the society.
Since you've mentioned asylum. Do check out Writers' Asylum if you are free. -
