Very interesting poem.Originally posted by fudgester:I wrote this piece after somehow working up the courage to call up a girl I really, really liked and asking her out on a date.
That was to be my first date. Oh.... the horror, the horror!
Hey, we've all been through this before, but it seems incredibly difficult the first time around. Working up the courage, slowly dialling the number, hearing the girl's voice saying the magic words which will eventually allow the date to take place, the suspense in waiting for the answer... phew. I've been through a lot, but this sure takes the cake.
For the record, I did go out with the girl.
Close Call
With deathly white knuckles and sweaty palms
The figure crosses the room
Dreading each step being taken
He reaches the phone
Stares at it momentarily
He looks around
Making sure no one is looking or listening.
There's no one around.... phew.
He picks up the receiver
Reaches for the address book
Turns to the right page
Finds the correct information
He taps in the right sequence of numbers
The phone at the other end rings
After what seems like an eternity
The sweetest voice ever answers
His life flashes before his eyes.
Sweat pouring down his forehead
He braces himself
To make the decision of a lifetime
It's now or never
"Hi, want to go out with me?"
wow..i never know this is so hard on a guy.Originally posted by fudgester:I wrote this piece after somehow working up the courage to call up a girl I really, really liked and asking her out on a date.

FIVE TIMES?!?!?!Originally posted by icyprincess:wow..i never know this is so hard on a guy.
wondering if he felt the same way when he first asked me out...
but then he must be pretty discouraged cos i must have rejected him like 5 times before I finally agreed
i.c.y
But they can smell the nervousness like an animal smells fear, don't u think?Originally posted by fudgester:FIVE TIMES?!?!?!
Nah, that guy couldn't have been discouraged. Far from it. In fact, I really admire his resilience!!!
Anyway, it's really hard on us when we're asking a girl out FOR THE FIRST TIME.
Subsequently, it ain't all that hard. I still get somewhat nervous upon asking girls out though.
Erm... nope. She rejected me eventually. She's now with another guy.Originally posted by OrneryBoy:are u with her already?
I think in a way, he likes to do the asking tho....dunno why. Until now, he has always been the one doing the asking if we are both going out...he refused to let me ask...Originally posted by fudgester:FIVE TIMES?!?!?!
