Life is a Shade of Pink & Black
Open your eyes and look around,
I can see nothing, hear not a single sound.
Minutes, seconds, they slowly flow by,
An empty feeling, a soft muted sigh.
Have you ever felt that one black feeling,
When life's incomplete, and you don't know what's missing.
The darkness which swirls around like a mist in the woods,
It encircles my soul, it dulls my moods.
Then I see, out of the corner of my eye,
A flash of colour in the void, as it streaks by.
I run after it, finger's grasping in vain,
It laughs, it teases me, it makes me insane.
Tearing blindly through the darkness wild,
Searching for that elusive colour mild.
Finally it stops and I slowly draw near,
A colour so beautiful it draws a tear.
A soft lovely shade of pink hovers,
As I watch, in amazement, it slowly shimmers.
Slowly, deepening, changing hues,
Pale, bright, following mysterious cues.
Mesmerised, I stare, I am left speechless,
Standing there in wonder, motionless.
A wave of warmth begins to flood my soul,
Like sweet honey, understanding begins to flow.
I look around at the darkness surrounding,
But glorious shades of pink are not disappearing.
I guess I finally know now the comprehension that I lack,
Is that life is a shade of pink and black.
