jus wan to know if anyone of u are familiar with the famous or good food in the area of chinatown. care to tell me which street or around where if possible, thanx guys. -

Chinatown is not that big.... try out the hawker centre there or the Mei Shi Jie... most of the food not bad....
Or u can see which stalls have longer queue then u go queue tat one lor.. hee

I'm not that good with Chinatown, but I could help a little by telling you the nice things I've tried.
Famous food... I know of this stall selling roast meat (they sell no chicken!) and some dim sum items (such as char siew buns, yam balls, chicken wings, lor mai kai etc). It's called "Dao Ji", as in, the dao in my signature and ji4 de2 (remember)'s ji4. It's well-known for its roast duck rice. Personally I like the chicken wings.
It's located behind People Park's Complex, more specifically, behind OG. -
There is also a HUGE food centre in some gray building. I'm not sure what the name of that building is, but if you stand opposite Lucky Chinatown, it's to the right of Lucky Chinatown, behind a bus stop. There is a CK Department Store there.
The food centre is very big - I keep getting lost in it. But they do have good food that's also cheap at the same time.
My favorite stall is Er Gu's dessert stall. The stall sells yummy almond/peanut/sesame paste that costs $1.60 per bowl. It's located around tables #200 something. The stall faces a wall.

If you fancy, you could buy home some peanuts from the famous Farmer's Brand store along Temple Street. The store is not hard to find. If you walk into the street from the main road, you'll see the store on the right side.
They've got good quality almond/walnut/sesame/peanut paste there too And there's this egg pudding thingy that's quite nice too. -

Basically there are quite some places to explore in Chinatown. I like those traditional eateries and biscuit stores. But they have alot of stores (that spoil the place) made for tourists too, selling things like the merlion keychains and magnets. Just..... keep walking!

Hong Lim market 2nd floor, Ah Hui famous prawn noodles. $3.00 onwards. Remember to tell auntie you want $3.00, otherwise she give u $4.00, dun go and kpkb.
Hong Lim market also 2nd floor, but on the other side, curry chicken noodles, this one must go early otherwise no more, which means, go before lunch. -
Porridge opposite ck departmental store..i dun really like to eat porridge there..due to hygiene reasons..but then it's very famous lor..got one stall selling sharks fins for $3.
durians near Ck departmental store....bao chi!!! very gd flesh even for $2 ones..
The hawker centre above...
got one jap food stall selling jap meals at $3.20..nice and filling...$1 for a bowl of salad..nice nice..
wu xiang!!! Very famous and old liao..expensive but nice..
and i espeically like the fish tofu from pearl centre..one of the stalls near the traffic light and pearl centre... -

tried the tangyuan...coz i like to eat..but not that declicious la..normal..cheap tho..can mix..
