Lets face it. Singaporeans are pragmatic.
We are all bothered about how well we do in school, not only in terms of our academic grades but also our cca achievements.
Are sportsmen discriminated against in terms of points in the LEAPS system compared to their counterparts in other ccas?
Yes.
For sports, recognition is hardly given to schools that qualify for the nationals. Which in many cases, is the top 16.
For the aesthetics, a gold for SYF is deemed by the ministry of education by a superior achievement even though many, many (20?) schools receive a gold.
What are everyone's views? Do share please -

Its good practice, because you'll face exactly the same thing by the time you get to work.

Yes I agree with u on this point.
Not only about cca points. But in terms of recognition. I play sports as well and I know for certain sports the national standard can be really scary. I do not want to go into detail in defining "scary"...but i leave it to your imagination.
Performing arts, on the other hand. They got this SYF thing. As long as you join this SYF, and you're not really that bad, u will at least get this "silver award". Unlike sports, (mostly elimination), if you're out, u have nothing, which also means you're not performing well. (which is totally assumption and totally untrue). In ccas such as band, choir whatever you have, even a silver is nice to annouce to the school during morning assembly.
It is difficult to excel in a sport unless the school has a good record in it. And have tons of DSA-ers..(or external help and funds..).
Whereas for performing arts/other clubs, it is relatively easy. Because such stuff are muggable and easy to improve over a short period of time. For sports, you have to be good and excel in it since young. Late bloomers or people who pick up later have lesser chance. (unless you're a genius or something).
Well, screw the unfairness and lack of perception in the higher authorities of the education system.
