COL KOH TEOW HUAT is currently the Commander of Divisional Air Defence Artillery Brigade (DAB) in Air Defence Systems Division (ADSD). He has involved in NDP in three different occasions - 1992, 2000 and 2002. He was the Dy Chairman Parade and Ceremony Committee and Chairman Parade Sub-Committee for NDP 2000 at Padang and NDP 2002 at National Stadium respectively. When he assumed his appointment as Commander DAB in June this year, he also became the advisor for the ADSD Mobile Column for NDP 05. One can say that he knows his way around NDP in that respect.
Though it involves a lot of hard work and sacrifices having to juggle between NDP and operational matters as well as “burning” of weekends and disrupting family life, the feeling and satisfaction one gets on seeing the fruit on 9 Aug is beyond words. As someone rightly put it – “a lump in the throat” on seeing the contribution of our labour and sweat to the celebration of our National Day. The best part of NDP is the journey where friendships and partnerships are forged and rapport established both within and outside SAF.
As Chairman for the Parade and Ceremony Committee for NDP 2006, I hope to present a memorable parade that expresses vitality, military precision, discipline as well as pomp and pageantry through a creative adaptation of format whilst maintaining a strong strand of continuity with past parades.
Together we make the difference. One for all and all 41! -
NDP 2006 Theme
The theme for NDP 2006 is “Our Global City, Our Home”. This theme portrays Singapore as a vibrant cosmopolitan city and an international hub that is plugged into the global community. At the same time, Singapore today is a city, which offers numerous opportunities and many different paths to success. This is where Singaporeans live, work and play and this is the place we are proud to call home. These sentiments are in line with PM Lee’s National Day Rally 2005 speech, where he encouraged us to remake Singapore into a vibrant global city called home.
The choice of the pronoun “Our” in the theme is deliberate as it connotes a sense of inclusiveness and ownership. Reiterating these sentiments, the phrase ‘Our Home’ evokes the warmth and unconditional acceptance that comes from a true sense of belonging. -
Road Closure NOTICE!
To facilitate vehicle parking and traffic control during the NDP 2006 and rehearsals, some roads in the vicinity of National Stadium will be closed to the general public.
Please be advised that road closure will be implemented along the following roads on 15 July (National Education Show), 29 July (Preview) and 9 August (National Day Parade 2006) from 2 pm to 11: 59pm:
1. Stadium Boulevard
2. Stadium Walk
3. Stadium Road
4. Stadium Crescent
5. Stadium Drive
6. Stadium Link
7. Jalan Benaan Kepal
8. Geylang Drive
In view of the fireworks within National Stadium vicinity, road closures will be implemented along the following roads on 15 July (National Education Show), 29 July (Preview) and 9 August (National Day Parade 2006) from 8.00pm to 8.30pm:
1. Mountbatten Road
2. Nicoll Highway
Access to the road closure area will only be granted to police, military, emergency and labelled vehicles.
Public buses travelling into the vicinity of National Stadium will also be diverted.
Traffic police will be stationed at all affected road junctions to regulate traffic and assist motorists -

Early birthday greetings to Singapore.
Next will be my critisms of NDP, why does it always have to be a SAF unit to organise it? The poor NSFs not only burn weekend, but also their sleep which means less safety awareness during their trainings.
