AMK only got Anderson JC. its not bad la. nearby in yishun got YJC. it's crap. everrybody says so. then next door in bishan, there's... RJC!! lol
but really when u reach JC age travelling distance really isn't a factor. you go for a JC that you can qualify for, and whose environment you enjoy. my friend in AMK travels all the way to ACJC in buona vista, but he's having alot of fun there. -

What you expect in JC, depends on your personality
You can choose to be a hyper funky person
(sort of putting on a mask)
goes around making friends and more friends, join lotsa activities, creating lotsa attention
being over the age of 16, means more freedom from parent
there are lotsa things u can do
go pub, zouk chiong lolz...
or if u choose to a 'chao mugger', everyday is study and study
and top the school, and enjoy the prestige of getting labelled 'Smartie' in your school
because you make it to JC, shows there is some standards in your academic achievement.... meaning u know how to study smart and not study hard
and also that shows u know how to manage your time.
Time managemet allows u more time for other activities !
Widen your social circle, and 'selling' yourself, is the most important aspect to learn in real life.
you can get all the As in your academic years,
this doenst mean u will be successful in future.
A resourceful person is a successful person.
Being resourceful and know how to 'sell' yourself is crucial and definitely helps in your future career. Grades are just there, as an advantage, to add to your portfoilo.
People management or what they call 'ren yuan' is something you should start observing and learn. That is what they call 'EQ'. Something that wont be taught in school, but left for you to develop on your own.
How many times in secondary school, your heard stuff like " XXX dont like YYY... lets not talk to him/her blah blah....." Don't do stupid things to get yourself ostracise by people. But dont be a "all-pleaser", go around pleasing people, people say yes, you say yes. Know where is the limit.
You can make many friends... but only a few are 'zi ji' real friends. They are those whom you can really talk to, and depend on when trouble arise.
True friends are friends that last throughout your lifetime.
Isnt it sad, if graduate from JC, but having no 'true friend'?
Secondary and JC are the time that really nurture real friendship, because you spend most of your time with them.
When you go Uni, everything is very individual and independent.
Or worst if u join the workforce, everyone will be stepping on everyone,
so that they can climb the corporate ladder...

Hi,
I'm currently choosing whether to go to a JC or Poly.
Just curious, though...is it true that in your 2nd year in JC, you can stay at home and self-study during June onwards to prepare yourself for the A levels?
I also heard that for 2nd year JC students, the start-school hours are like those in Poly, like you start classes at 9.30 AM or 11.00 AM etc.
Is it true?
