Fire breaks out at Changi Airport Terminal 2 departure hall
SINGAPORE – Flight operations at Changi Airport Terminal 2 have been affected by a fire which prompted a major evacuation on Tuesday (May 16).
According to a statement from Changi Airport Group (CAG), the fire broke out at about 5:40pm. The fire alarm was activated due to smoke coming through the air vents.
The Changi Airport Emergency Service team is onsite, and the Police and firefighters are managing the incident.
In social media posts, eyewitnesses described the terminal as being smoke-filled, adding that they could not see any flames.
In an update on social media, CAG said: "We have identified the cause of the fire. The situation is under control.
"Flight operations at T2 are affected. We seek the understanding of the public."
