  Wisma Atria shopping mall evacuated after 'minor fire'

  SINGAPORE: Wisma Atria shopping mall was evacuated on Monday (Oct 17) afternoon, after a small fire broke out at a shop.

  
  

  The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said in a Facebook post that it was alerted to a fire at about 5.20pm, at a shop on the second floor. In an update at 6.30pm, SCDF said the fire has been put out.  

  
  

  The "minor fire" was confined to a small area of the shop, said SCDF, adding that the building was evacuated as a precautionary measure. Shoppers said on social media that entrances to the mall, including underpasses, were also closed.

  
  

  SCDF said the cause of the fire is being investigated.

  1. The fire involved the contents of a cabinet in a shop on the second floor, and was extinguished by SCDF emergency responders using one water jet.
     
     
  2. Four people were taken the Singapore General Hospital for smoke inhalation. 
     
     
  3. SCDF said it sent two fire bikes, two fire engines, two Red Rhinos, three support vehicles and two ambulances to Wisma Atria.
