Fire engulfs 12th floor HDB unit at Block 38, Bedok South Road; residents evacuated
SINGAPORE - A fire broke out at Block 38, Bedok South Road, on Tuesday (Oct 11) afternoon.
When contacted, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the fire in a 12th floor unit at 2.40pm and dispatched two fire bikes, one fire engine, two red rhinos, one support vehicle and one ambulance.
The fire, which engulfed the unit, was extinguished using one water jet. Residents from the 11th and 12th floor were evacuated by police and the SCDF.
An elderly woman who was evacuated from the 12th floor complained of shortness of breath and was assessed by paramedics before being sent to Changi General Hospital. There were no other reported injuries.
Damping down operations are in progress and the cause of the fire is being investigated.
