Worker falls through rubbish chute near Queenstown
SINGAPORE: A worker was found injured in a rubbish chute at the ground floor of Block 8, Jalan Rumah Tinggi on Saturday (Oct 8).
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to the incident at 10.10am. Upon arrival, they found the man, in his 20s, had sustained injuries following a fall from a height.
According to a workplace and fire safety consultancy firm post on Facebook, the man was on a painting job before the accident.
A hydraulic cutter was later used to free the man from the one-man cage he was found in, said the SCDF. He was then sent to the National University Hospital (NUH) for treatment, where medical staff were put on standby to receive him.
The Manpower Ministry is investigating the incident and has instructed the occupier to stop all work at height activities.
