4 injured after hawker stall at Old Airport Road catches fire
SINGAPORE: Three men and a woman sustained burn injuries after a hawker stall at 51 Old Airport Road caught fire on Tuesday (Aug 2).
According to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), preliminary investigations revealed that the incident was caused by a flash fire arising from repair works that was carried out on the gas supply to the food stall.
The trio were sent to Singapore General Hospital in two ambulances for their injuries on their arms and hands. Another man, who sustained a cut to his right hand, declined to be sent to hospital, it added.
SCDF said it was alerted to the incident at about 10am on Tuesday morning. The stall on the first floor of the hawker centre was extinguished by a sprinkler system prior to SCDF's arrival.
