Residents evacuated after fire breaks out at Sengkang flat
SINGAPORE: More than 20 residents in Sengkang had to be evacuated after a fire broke out at a flat early Wednesday morning (Jul 20).
A resident was also taken to Singapore General Hospital conscious but with breathing difficulties due to the fire, which took place at 257B Compassvale Road, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said.
SCDF said it received a call at about 4.15am and dispatched two fire engines, a Red Rhino, two ambulances and three support vehicles.
After officers forced their way into the flat, the fire was extinguished in about half an hour using two water jets, SCDF said.
SCDF is investigating the cause of the fire.
