Fire breaks out at Hougang Ave 7, no injuries reported
SINGAPORE: The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) extinguished a fire that broke out at Block 339, Hougang Avenue 7 on Thursday (Jun 30).
SCDF said it was alerted to the incident at 4.36pm, and that the fire involved the unit's kitchen. Officers put out the blaze using a single fire extinguisher.
No one was injured, and there was no need for an evacuation, SCDF added.
In a Facebook post at around 5.50pm, Hougang Community Club Management Committee chairman Lee Hong Chuang said that residents and grassroots leaders alerted him to the fire. Photos he posted showed smoke emerging from the windows of a second-floor unit.
"I understand that the fire could (have been) due to (a) gas explosion," he wrote.
Mr Lee was the People's Action Party candidate for Hougang in last year's general election.
