The fire was extinguished with eight water jets including an aerial monitor within 90 minutes, SCDF says
SINGAPORE: A fire broke out at a factory in Joo Koon on Wednesday morning (Jun 15) but no injuries were reported, said the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
According to SCDF, the fire started at around 5.45am and it measured about 20m by 20m in size. SCDF firefighters then surrounded the area with eight water jets including an aerial monitor and prevented the fire from spreading. The fire was extinguished within 90 minutes, it added.
About 150 workers from three companies were also evacuated. The burnt factory, which operates at 6 Joo Koon Circle, deals with metal parts.
Damping down operations - the application of water to wet burnt surfaces immediately after the fire is put out - are currently in progress, SCDF said. This is to prevent any potential rekindling of the fire from hot burnt surfaces.
