Car catches fire on CTE; no one injured
SINGAPORE: A car caught fire on the Central Expressway (CTE) towards the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE) on Sunday (Apr 17) afternoon.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it was alerted to the incident involving the engine compartment of the car at about 1pm.
Authorities deployed a fire engine and two Red Rhinos to the site after the Balestier exit, and the fire was extinguished using a water jet.
An eyewitness told Channel NewsAsia SCDF's vehicles were unable to approach the burning car at first due to a traffic jam.
No one was injured, said SCDF, adding that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
