Fire breaks out at Eunos Crescent, no injuries reported
SINGAPORE: A fire involving discarded items broke out at a corridor on the seventh floor of Block 18 Eunos Crescent on Thursday morning (Apr 7). No injuries were reported, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said.
According to a resident living on the eighth floor, two loud explosions were heard at about 8.15am. Ms Vivien Poh also said the smoke gradually grew bigger and, together with her neighbours, they self-evacuated for their own safety.
Describing the situation as “orderly”, Ms Poh added that residents were seen gathering at the ground floor while waiting for the arrival of SCDF officers.
SCDF said a fire engine, two Red Rhinos, two fire bikes and a support vehicle were dispatched to the scene but the fire had been extinguished by the residents with buckets of water.
The area was cordoned off by the police, according to Ms Poh, while SCDF said the cause of fire is under investigation.
The police have classified the case as one of "mischief by fire".
