Worker rescued after falling into worksite pit in Yishun
SINGAPORE: A 28-year-old man was sent to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital on Saturday (Jan 30) after he had fallen into a 3m-deep pit at a worksite located at the junction of Yishun Ave 1 and Yishun Ave 4.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they were alerted to the incident at 3.30pm on Saturday and despatched an ambulance, a fire engine, a Red Rhino and two support vehicles to the location.
SCDF said a male worker had fallen into the pit and was half-submerged in soil. Rescuers then used shovels and an excavator to help free the man, who was conscious throughout the whole rescue operation, according to SCDF.
"The worker had no visible injuries but was conveyed to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital as a precautionary measure," said an SCDF spokesperson.
Police said they received a call at 3.23pm requesting for assistance at the junction of Yishun Ave 1 and Yishun Ave 4. Upon arrival, they established that an industrial accident had occurred, according to a police spokesperson.
