Fire breaks out at Kent Vale
SINGAPORE: A fire involving contents from a bedroom broke out at the Kent Vale serviced apartments on Monday morning (Jan 25), the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said. No injuries were reported, it added.
In a Facebook post, the National University of Singapore's (NUS) Students' Union's publication, The Ridge Magazine, reported NUS Security Manager Loh Kim Hock as saying that the two occupants of the unit were unharmed.
The SCDF said it was alerted to the incident along Clementi Road at 11.25am, and dispatched two fire engines, a Red Rhino, a support vehicle and an ambulance to the scene.
Photos from Channel NewsAsia viewers showed thick black smoke coming out from the unit on the 24th floor. Approximately 30 residents were also evacuated by SCDF officers, it said.
The SCDF added that the fire was extinguished within 15 minutes with two water jets, and that the cause was still under investigation.
