Fire at Yishun Ring Road flat: 2 injured
SINGAPORE: Two people were injured on Wednesday (Dec 30) following a fire at a unit along Yishun Ring Road.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force says they were alerted to the fire at Block 624 Yishun Ring Road at about 8am. The fire involved the contents of a living room in an 8th floor unit. SCDF firefighters had to force open the main door before being able to extinguish the fire using a water jet.
Two occupants within the unit, a man and woman, were rescued by SCDF and sent to the hospital for smoke inhalation and injuries. About 10 residents of nearby units had managed to evacuate before SCDF’s arrival.
A fire engine, two red rhinos, two fire bikes, two ambulances and two support vehicles were dispatched to the incident, SCDF said. Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
