Car catches fire at Serangoon North; no injuries reported
SINGAPORE: A car caught fire at 102 Serangoon North Avenue 1 on Sunday afternoon (Nov 29). No injuries were reported.
The incident was caught on video, where the front of a stationary blue-coloured sedan could be seen burning at the zebra crossing of the traffic junction.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force said it was alerted to the incident at about 5.20pm, and its officers put out the flames within 10 minutes. SCDF added that the fire involved the engine compartment of the car.
SCDF advised motorists to service their vehicles at authorised workshops and check for oil leakage. It also urged motorists to keep a fire extinguisher in their vehicle. It added that if one spots smoke emitting from the vehicle, they should pull over to the side of the road, turn off the ignition and alight.
