Fire Incident at Construction Site along Choa Chu Kang Avenue 1
SCDF was alerted to a fire at a construction site along Choa Chu Kang Avenue 1 around 9.30am. 3 Fire Engines, 3 Red Rhinos, 2 Fire Bikes, 3 Ambulances and 6 Support vehicles were dispatched and arrived at the incident site within 6mins. Some workers from the construction site had attempted to mitigate the fire using fire hosereels and fire extinguishers prior to SCDF’s arrival.
Upon SCDF’s arrival, the fire was well-alight at a 3-storey dormitory inside the construction site. During the firefighting operation, SCDF firefighters faced challenges such as uneven terrain and thick black smoke while penetrating into the risk area. The fire was extinguished within an hour using 5 handheld water jets and a water monitor from an aerial vehicle. 3 firefighters sustained injuries and were conveyed to National University Hospital (NUH) in a conscious state.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
