SINGAPORE: The Singapore Civil Defence Force will introduce an eight-week course to cross-train its firefighters to equip them with medical skills.
This will be done progressively over the next three years.
Currently, firemen play a limited frontline medical role as they are equipped with first-aid knowledge.
The new initiative aims to enhance the quality of emergency medical services.
Plans to cross-train personnel were previously outlined during the Home Affairs Ministry's Budget 2013 Committee of Supply Debate.
