In response to a query from STOMP, a spokesperson for the SCDF said that the fire "involved a portable battery charger inside the bag
of a member of a public", and that it was put out by the same person
before the firefighters' arrival.
The full statement from the SCDF reads:
"SCDF received a call at about 6.22pm (Jan 21) informing of a fire incident at Dover MRT station.
"We dispatched 1 fire engine, 1 Red Rhino and 2 fire bikes to the location.
"Upon arrival, the fire involved a portable battery charger inside the bag of a member of the public.
"The fire was extinguished by the owner of the bag with a dry powder fire extinguisher prior to the SCDF's arrival.
"No one was injured in this incident."
