SINGAPORE: A man was found dead in the Singapore River along Clarke Quay early Sunday morning.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said it received a call at about 1.30am.
Someone was spotted jumping into the river near Block A.
SCDF officers arrived about four minutes later and conducted a search around the area.
Diving at a depth of about 3 metres, rescuers retrieved the body of a man about three-and-a-half hours later.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police are investigating the unnatural death.

A spokesperson for the SCDF said:
"At 1.26am,
SCDF received a call from a member of public informing that someone had
jumped in the river near Block A, Clarke Quay.
"Two Fire Engines, an ambulance and two support appliances were dispatched and arrived at the incident site within four minutes.
"Upon arrival, the SCDF commenced search operations at the location where the subject was last seen.
"Diving
at a depth of about 3 metres, DART rescuers retrieved a body of a male
individual at around 5am. The subject was pronounced dead by an SCDF
paramedic at the scene."
