SINGAPORE: The first Singapore Global Fire Fighters & Paramedics Challenge organised by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was held on Saturday at the National Service Training Institute.
SCDF said the event is a platform in which SCDF personnel from the fire stations and Operationally Ready National Servicemen from the various divisions pit their strength, speed and skills against one another in challenging events related to fire-fighting and rescue scenarios.
The challenge consisted of two segments -- a local segment and an international segment.
Elite
rescuers from Singapore and nine other countries -- such as Australia,
Indonesia and Malaysia -- participated in the international segment.
SCDF
said a composite team approach, which involved teams made up of
representatives from different countries, was adopted for the
international segment. This allowed for the cultivation of comradeship
amongs international participants.
