SINGAPORE: 50 people were evacuated when a fire broke out at Block 89 Commonwealth Drive on Saturday.
The evacuees were brought down from the second to the sixth floors.
No one was injured.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted of the fire at about 7.20 pm.
SCDF deployed two fire engines, one ambulance and a supporting vehicle.
When the fire fighters arrived, there was black smoke coming out of a unit on the fourth floor.
They made a forced entry into the affected unit and found no one inside.
The fire was confined to the kitchen area, and was extinguished within five minutes.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
